Well, it seems that this week is no good for anyone, at least according to the Facebook event I created…

So rather than sit alone at Starbucks tomorrow night, I’ve decided to push it off a week.  🙂

See the revised info below; I’ll create a new Facebook event as well:

Next Cohort meeting (#7)

Pick a Date: Wednesday, 4/23 or Thursday, 4/24 Thursday, 5/1
Time: 8pm-11pm
Location: Starbucks in Latham on Route 2 (549 Troy Schenectady Rd Latham, NY)
Bring/Read: Chapter 5 of A Generous Orthodoxy (there’s a lot to chew on with this one, so one chapter should be plenty)

First meet for ’08

So, let’s decide on a day to get together to kick off the new year. I’m thinking sometime next week?

Monday-Friday (1/21-1/25) @ 8pm
Starbucks in Latham on Route 2 by the Circle

What day works for people?

We’ve been having some great discussions. There’s only been 3 of us so far, and it’s been fine, but obviously the more the merrier!

(This is also posted on the discussion board of the Facebook Group; leave a note here or there, whichever floats your boat!)

We had a great time at our first meet, granted there were only 3 of us, but it was still a good time of getting to know each other and just general conversation.

So, what say we try again and see if we can get some more people?

Monday 12/17
Tuesday 12/18
Wednesday 12/19
Thursday 12/20
Friday 12/21

I’d love to setup a meeting sometime soon. There’s been some (marginal) interest in this thing, it seems mostly through the Facebook Group, so I was curious if anyone is interested in trying to get together sometime?

My hope in kicking off this Cohort was (at the very least) to have a “book club”-like meeting, centered around discussing a book that’s relevant to emerging / Emergent / postmodern / post-whatever-else-you-can-think-of… A book that I’ve always wanted to discuss, but until now had no willing parties, is Brian McLaren’s “A Generous Orthodoxy“. I think the style of this book would lend itself really well to group discussion, and on top of that there’s A LOT that’s worth discussing.

What do you think?  What days/times are good for people?  Weeknight?  Weekend?

Now there’s a another way to participate in the conversation: on Facebook!

Check it out and/or join the group here.

And if you haven’t joined Facebook yet, what are you waiting for? All the cool kids are doing it… Join it now!!! 😉
